Marcel is a Master Herpetologist and a Zambian snake and snakebite expert.
In 2021 he published the book Snakes and First Aid in Snakebite in Zambia. In 2023, he drafted the National Guidelines in the Prevention and Management of Snakebite, which was validated and adopted in October 2023 by the Zambian Ministry of Health.
Marcel will be leading our snakebite training program which has been designed specifically for clinical officers working in low resource settings.
Participants will learn how to recognise different toxidromes, the rationale behind different treatment paradigms and how to manage common emergencies post-envenomation. They will also be guided through a novel snakebite proforma which will form the basis of a larger quality improvement project across Zambia.
