October 2024: Livingstone Revisited Expedition Report
Dear Supporters,
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your support and belief in our mission. The team arrived back in the UK last week and thanks to your generosity, we’ve had an incredibly impactful journey over the past 3 weeks.
We have visited over 20 healthcare facilities across Zambia, ranging from district hospitals to rural clinics, onboarding 68 new clinicians onto the Virtual Doctors platform and re-engaging with our existing users.
This work, along with running trauma training pilots in three provinces, including one session observed by the Ministry of Health, has been invaluable in empowering local healthcare providers and has lead to exciting discussions on where next to take this project.
Together, we’ve travelled over 3,500 kilometres and worked with our in country partners Snake Safety Zambia and On Call Africa to host critical snakebite training in rural Zimba.
We’ve distributed countless lanterns to help clinicians and wards combat the challenges posed by power rationing. Many clinics only get power for a few hours each day and the ability to safely examine patients and deliver babies using solar lanterns will have a profound impact on their ability to deliver safe patient care.
We’ve heard incredible stories from the field, from both clinicians and stakeholders, and this has inspired us to push forward with even more plans for the future. None of this would have been possible without your support.
Thank you for standing with us as we continue to support healthcare delivery in Zambia.
